Just so you know, you're not the only person who half agrees with the OP. I know that just liking one person doesn't make you bi but it also is stupid when people say that all the time and won't admit to it. Sexuality is complicated. I've yet to see a single statement about it was really sums it up. *shrug.

I don't think the poster is a twit either.

I can see why people are disagreeing, but I really am sick of people having an OMG SEXUAL IDENTITY CRISIS because their attractions aren't completely one way or the other. I just wish people didn't think it was such a bad thing to be bi.

I...honestly think that's beside the point? The main issue here, to me, is the idea that a single attraction to someone of the same (or, for that matter, opposite) sex necessarily REQUIRES people to identify themselves as bisexual. Honestly, that's bullshit.

And I don't get the sense that all those secrets are freaking out about it. It might not be something they're open about (hence the secret), but they aren't all, "OMG MIGHT NOT BE STRAIGHT OMG." Maybe we disagree on that.

But even if they ARE having an identity crisis, I don't think it's fair to assume they think there's something wrong with being bi. I went through that whole crisis myself, and it wasn't because I thought it was bad to be bi. (Mostly not, anyway; there's always a little bit of internalized homophobia to deal with, I suppose.) Mostly it was just really fucking disconcerting to be questioning something I thought I'd settled years ago.

A buddy of mine had a similar crisis when he realised he was attracted to a woman, and not (I would think) because he thought there was something wrong with being attracted to the opposite sex. But he'd built up a solid identity for himself as a GAY man (from a small town, no less - it's not like he hadn't put it to the test before), and suddenly it was shaken.

I really think it's asking too much to just expect people to casually accept that their sexuality looks different today, and breeze onwards.
