I've just started in on the books. haven't seen the A&E series yet, but it's on my to do list (if for no other reason than Ioan Gruffudd is almost exactly how I imagined Horation as I was reading...in both mannerisms and looks)

As the other chap mentioned, I've read several of the books and also seen the A&E series - both good fun.

As a side-note, I really need to read more of the Aubrey books.

The A&E series is definitely worth a look, even though it makes some deviations from the books (some necessary, others not quite so much) to make it fit into a television mini-series. One of my favorite television productions out there.

Ioan Gruffudd, I've heard, really wants to make a feature film based on one of the books and reprise his role as Hornblower.
