167. Age difference smage difference. I ship McGonagall/Snape, I’m pretty sure you can’t get much more of an age difference unless you ship the Doctor with like, anyone. The bigger the age gap, the more interesting the pairing, I think.

I also don’t see a problem with people being too mired in tradition. Yes, it’s tradition that the Doctor changes. He’s also been traditionally white. I bet a lot of the people who don’t want a black Doctor are people who are just going “But TRADITION!!!”
If you don’t want a black Doctor because you hate black people, or you think black people can’t be British, then fuck you because you’re a racist. If you don’t want him to be black just because it throws the ‘tradition’ of him being white out of whack, then you’re just old fashioned.

Come ON, is there a thinner excuse than, "the character is TRADITIONALLY white"? I don't think so.
That's no damn argument at ALL, and it's just a cover for the real reason people are uncomfortable. Their Doctor is a character that they feel comfortable with - that is, white. Now why, exactly, is it SO uncomfortable for people to see a black Doctor? Or a black hero? Or a black main character for that matter (since it's so rare on television)?

I think many of these people have just made the Doctor's skin color part of his character, since it is one of the few things that has stayed the same throughout all of his incarnations.
I'm not denying the fact that the people who are the most vocal about not wanting a black Doctor--either because he's black or because he's not British enough, or whatever else--are probably racist assholes. But I'm also not gonna assume that everyone who has maybe had the thought "But not the Doctor!" is a racist scumbag.
