Whoa, what fandom have you been in? As far as I can tell, while the old school fans have done their fair share of wanking, the new fans certainly wanked hard as well.

thats very true. i guess i just find the old/new wank more....mean-spirited? like our opinions arent valid because we're satisfied with not watching the entire backstory. sounds kind of ridiculous when you consider how petty people can be w/ the rose vs martha, but that sort of shit i expect from fandom - you can find ship wars anywhere. its just what makes fandom fandom.
