SA I'm going to use Led Zeppelin as an example for this. They admired many rhythm and blues artists who were black and that influenced their music. (Although they had many sources of inspiration - as well as outright plagiarism, looking at you Jimmy Page*.)

LZ's audience were mostly white. They went on to inspire other white artists who also had mostly white audiences - and before you know it elements of music that originated in black culture has become part of white culture.

*Jimmy Page allegedly ripped off one tune from a (white) English folk singer, Anne Briggs.

Honest question, why do think LZ's audience was mostly white, when their music was so heavily influenced by blues?

Have any black artists covered LZ? Because that would be awesome, and I would love links if they have.
