nayrt but... wow, that's a lot of rules for how to write a wendigo. I personally have plans to ever do that, but I'm hard pressed to imagine people thinking that it'd be reasonable to say (for example) that you could NOT take the vampire legend out of its eastern European geographical context, using eastern European characters and culture only. You can NOT write a vampire as being anything but a bloodsucking monster, because that's the original folklore interpretation. And you can NOT use a vampire as a scary monster and have it being defeated by characters who aren't eastern European.

It's almost like eastern Europeans are not an oppressed and traumatized people who have had everything systematically stripped from them for centuries.

It's almost like no one would ever have heard of them if it were not for Dracula...

What exactly is your point? Did Bram Stoker somehow contribute to the violent and ongoing oppression of Transylvanians when he copied a pre-existing sexy vampire story??

Native Americans and First Nations people are still oppressed today. Fuck off.

Vampires aren't from a still-living culture that was violently oppressed by Christian missionaries including actual kidnapping of children and putting them through schools, the entire bullshit that is Trail of Tears, etc. They still aren't treated well and largely live on reservations while their missing are treated as runaways, their murdered aren't given any real seriousness in investigation, etc.
