I was actually coming here to say something similar, I think?

Although I'm not familiar with that specific tumblr specifically (not a writer myself), I was going to suggest that they maybe reach out to any Native Americans from whose culture the Wendigo comes from and ask how they could portray one that is respectful and accurate to where it comes from, rather than just appropriating the idea.

Personally I've always believed that there should be a middle ground, where people should be able to explore ideas from other cultures in their stories/art/etc., also long as they actually take the time to do research and be as respectful as possible, ESPECIALLY if it's a person from a culture that has traditionally oppressed the one they're drawing from.
