Castle and Beckett were SO goddamn annoying, and as you said: the potential had fizzled out by s3 as it was and Beckett stopped having anything for herself on the show and instead was entirely wrapped up in Castle every damn second and it was so blah. And I liked her a lot but that romance ate away at her character and I'll never forgive the show for it.

Also personal opinion: I just never liked Castle himself much and thought he was a terrible match for her. I know 'opposites' attract and all that but literally all they had in common was solving murders together.
