It's going. I did my workout today and didn't phone it in, but it took awhile to actually do it. I was cramping and irritable most of the morning (period from hell) but took edibles and felt better. Watched the Tour de France. I'm currently waiting for boba tea delivery and will probably do my nails later this evening when NFL football starts. But it's finally a decent temperature outside (69°F) and the smoke isn't too bad today so that's good.

Tired and starving. Can't wait for my fries to get done cooking. Also, watching LegalEagle's new video on These Aren't Laws. Tomorrow I got to take my cat to the vet to get his back end shaved. He just isn't cleaning himself as much and is getting mats. Going to have to start brushing him daily after this.

Good!! My ebola/placebo side effects have worn off, so my joints are no longer enduring a preview of 10-20 years from now. Made Japanese curry for dinner because it went from 90 and fuck off last week to 50 and wet this week - perfect curry weather. :D

Destroyed my knee at work but not doing anything that could be specifically flagged as a workers-comp-eligible activity! It may not be fire and/or snow but it's cold and damp so I'm suffering both allergies and joint pain! Trump still sucks and no one is going to gainsay him! The university is the hotspot for a new covid outbreak (shock!! who would have guessed that?!?!) so everyone in my city is being gently nudged to voluntarily go into lockdown just in case!! My drinking has gotten excessively worse thanks to points A, B, C, and D!!

My problems could be solved if my money decided to multiply itself by 20.
I can't live with the person I live with anymore. We just straight up hate each other.

But I can't afford anywhere that isn't a trailer previously used to cook meth.
A tip for those also looking at dumpy rentals: cook houses smell kind of like old pissed on straw. If you smell it, leave. Even the residual fumes are toxic.

The big fire nearby is slowly being brought under control; it was less smokey today but I've had a headache for a few days running. Scared for people I know further north and in Oregon.

Also really tempted to spend stupid amounts of money on flower bulbs to plant now because I'd have to live until after the election and (please) inauguration to see them bloom.

I dunno; I've spent so much of my life panicking and dealing with my own and parents' mental illness and awful family shit and just surviving.

So on the one hand, a dozen more disasters every day and an openly genocidal administration are just more bullshit to endure. On the other hand, I'm so fucking tired of existing in survival mode, awaiting the next disaster, and seeing people get hurt. I just want to spend an entire fucking paycheck on flowers and fill my yard with daffodils because what the hell, I might not last another year.

The group of weirdos who followed a celeb back to their hotel from a convention? RPFers who insist the celebs families are fake? People who commission artists for MLP porn?

I think every fandom has some crazies. Which ones do you avoid?

Mostly I judge the parts of fandom who insist there is a right and wrong way to do things or that there are right and wrong opinions about what is good and bad in the thing we are fandoming about. Like what you want, dislike what you want. But don't tell other people they can't disagree with you. Don't claim your opinions are objective fact or superior to other opinions.

And I also judge the parts of fandom that think that because they don't like something that means it is okay to sent nasty, personal hate to the writers, actors, etc. and just general be awful to the people who make the things we are fandoming about just because they don't like one part of it. That's just not okay.

And there are of course the "anti-PC" crowd who can't stand the existence of female heroes being powerful or main characters. No, they must be Mary Sues. They are a totally new thing. They are forced by writers and not natural at all or realistic. Even though the exact same thing but from a male character would be just fine for these people. And the same with the shocking fact that LGBTQ characters happen to exist in modern media because LGBTQ people exist in real life and media is finally portraying that, but any time that happens these people think it is shoving it in our faces. But of course the thousands of het/cis characters over the years haven't been shoved in our faces, that's just natural.

I judge the anti-PCers so hard. Women can be heroes as much as men can. LGBTQ people exist. Get over it.

There are RPFers/fans of the main het pairing in my fandom and they are batshit to the point of the male actor actually mentioning in an article how they harass his real life wife. You bet I judge those people.

I've mentioned this before but I think it's worth repeating. Fangirls who act all rude and shit to the wife or girlfriend of whatever celebrity they have a crush on. It's really stupid and obnoxious and isn't going to score you any points with him.

For just about anything I'm in, it seems like there's some shipping conspiracy about how something should have been canon/endgame based on stretching the text pretty far. You can ship it anyway! It doesn't have to be some secret code from the writer's room to your brain!

I wouldn't really say I'm active in any fandom, I just lurk everywhere, but I have definitely gone out of my way to avoid 'kin' types before - you know, the ones who think they're Percy Jackson or Starscream or some shit.

Also (and this, I'll admit, is a bit more meanspirited) I avoid interacting with the portion of the Harry Potter fandom that's all 'Hogwarts is a safe space! Accessibility! Respecting pronouns! Accommodating different dietary needs!', while I'm just sitting in the corner like the crone at the christening like, '...the place is full of stairs, which students sometimes get stuck in or fall down. The teachers don't need any teaching credentials or even a clear criminal record. Bullies are common and often violent. I'm not even going to start on the house elf situation. They don't even *do* sex ed. They're not gonna respect your gender identity, hon.'
But that contingent has been very quiet since JK stopped pretending she wasn't a TERF, so there's that.
