Seconding this. I'm pretty cool with the fandom, and I'm the type of person who's into APH for the history and gets irked at any sort of "OMG BISHIE" comment in any fandom.

...It stands to reason that I don't even find many of them attractive, actually. Nor do I write them as such in my fic. (Japan-post-WWII, too skinny; France, too many french crowns; I do find scars attractive but that does color the interpretations of England and Russia and Liet...yeah. And even the ones who ARE attractive aren't all...well, bishie. BOYS. I LIKE MY COUNTRIES LIKE I LIKE MY MEN.)

That too. The only one really being Turkey, and I don't even know why, since I've never found that type of guy attractive before. For me, it's just an interesting series with a fun fandom (that also makes me more comfortable expressing my secret love of history).

And you can also make the bish cases for The Baltic States and Hong Kong. But yeah. Most of them? Are biseinen at worst and, well, caricatures most of the time. I mean, look at England. Since when does the bishounen character have big ol' eyebrows and a carpet that doesn't match the drapes?
