But it's not the same as, you know, wanking within the fandom. Honestly, I'm not surprised that the fans defending themselves because no one likes generalizations applied to them. Their response is no different from any other fandom would've done. The fandom is okay for not liking the series, no one would cared, but when someone is trying to paint a nasty image of the fandom, people will talk against it.

If you really enjoyed the fandom you were in and suddenly people labeled you as completely shallow and only in it for pretty boys and yaoi, you'd probably be offended too. Unless you WERE into it for that, but I assume the people coming to Hetalia's defense actually like the fact that there is actually a fandom based on history and politics?
