Um, ONE CRAZY MAN WHO CORRUPTS EVERYONE is pretty one dimensional, regardless of how well it's done. We never see the internal logic.

Well, I thought the Malfoy family illustrated how an otherwise loving family could also be fooled by grand promises and self-delusion, and turn them onto a way to ruthless killing. Also when Draco was forced to face reality and saw what those twisted ideals really meant.

Voldemort went crazy from fear of death, and created some twisted ideals to gather followers of his cause. We saw at least three broken families that were major parts of the narrative because of it; I don't really think it's one-dimensional.

The internal logic isn't complicated, but we do see it. People fall for it in real life all the time; even those that should know better.

Hitler-Germany is one-dimensional? The Germans already had a lot of pent-up frustration after WWI; it's almost exactly the same for the HP Pureblood faction.
