I never read Megatokyo myself, but as I understand from what I heard back in the day, the artist was far more proficient in backgrounds than human figures.

Also, I feel the need to point out that the people who loved it might have loved it for the story and not for the quality of the art. I don't know that for a fact, because like I said I haven't read it, but as someone who's read all of the Mob Psycho 100 manga, I know that good storytelling skills and impeccable comedic timing can more than make up for mediocre art.
