Do it. Tell them. If you can do it anon your can be as blunt as you like, but even if you can't go anon, it's rare for anyone to object to "please tag your kinks".

DA
I personally wouldn't go the 'blunt' route; be polite about it, asking nicely. No one is obligated to tag nor wants to feel hounded. So yeah, ask nicely and if they refuse, simply ignore all of their fics.

I asked them politely on anon a while back and they tagged ... once and then stopped again. I'm worried I may seem like I'm harassing them if I do it again. I just sorta muted them now but ugh.

ayrt - oh that sucks, I'm sorry dude. I once asked a writer to stop marking their fic as updated every time they edited it and they flipped their shit, but at least that was a big fandom and it didn't bother me to stop reading their fic.
Ugh indeed.

Sueric? She would do that all the time on Mediaminer with Inuyasha fanfic to keep her fics at the top of the list.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Do it as a comment on the post or fic if they stopped months ago.

Often, shaming people in public gets them to change their behaviour more reliably, especially if it's not stuck when you've done it politely in private.

Don't be a ass about it, but "Please tag your fics so I can stop certain comment coming up on my feed" is polite enough.

If that doesn't work, block the shit out of them.

'Shaming' anyone in public for something as innocuous as fanfiction doesn't seem right, even if done lightly. Just ask the one time, skip any public shaming, and jump straight to blocking.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Do this OP. It's worked before.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Do it. You don't have to say "so I can filter out your crap", but asking people to tag their fics/art is perfectly reasonable.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't there an Ao3 Savior thing that lets you block certain tags or users?

I'm really not interested in omegaverse and have been surprised by it too many times in an untagged fic. I don't think it's unreasonable to politely point out that some of these things are a specific kink and not everyone will want to read it so tags would be helpful.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I like those kinks, and I still agree that they should be tagged. The whole “they keep shitting out content I don’t like” attitude is sucky, though. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you asking them to tag their kinks (and I think they’re being a jerk if they refuse). But being rude about asking is unwarranted.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, on the one hand, people can write what they want and tagging is a courtesy, not a law.

On the other, there are enough people who don't think surprise anal leakage is a turn-on to maybe tag your kinks.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
This. Plus, if nothing else, tagging stuff like that makes it easier to entice readers who are into those things. Tagging benefits the writer just as much as it does the reader.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
That would annoy the shit out of me, especially because I really can't stand anything with those tropes.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
If they don't tag, people who are into those tropes can't find them either. Tagging is a win/win situation and people who don't do it...I just don't understand them.

Some of us prefer minimal tagging. The tropes in the secret are ones I'd personally tag for because if I was writing them, they'd be central to the fic, but there's a lot of incidental things I don't tag, and everyone's line is going to be different.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
I think kinks are one of those things that should always be tagged for because one person's "yes please" kink is someone else's major squick. It's not something like a character death, where tagging for it could ruin the story.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
If you have stuff like kinks in your fic that they don't want to tag for concern about spoiling then they should at least use the Author Chose Not to Warn tag to give people a heads up that there might be stuff in there that they're not cool with.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm on board with everyone else- tell them. Like it's not even discouraging in the terms of the ghostship if only because they're the ones giving it a bad name by mistagging all their fic.
I wouldn't even say it's nagging them either if you've done it before, since they're the one in the wrong and some people just need that extra reminder to get on board with the rest of the world.

(yeah, sorry if I'm being aggressive with my wording, I'm just having a hard time with a similar situation as of late and I might be really sorta mad right now.)

Nice background.
