Truthfully, it's not so much a matter of your marital or disabled status; many countries will require you to give them a reason to take you in: do you have skills that would be useful in their economy? Do you have the funds to get there in the first place, wherever 'there' might be? Because even Canada or Mexico will not be cheap, never mind anywhere across the oceans.

I know this is a terrible situation all around and what I'm saying isn't what you want to hear, but you, me, and most other Americans will be stuck here, having to continue to fight for our rights.

NAYRT

This is the conclusion I've come to. I don't have money or any highly sought after skills, there's nowhere that would take me, and it sucks. It's one of the things that piss me off about anti-immigration people who are all "look at other countries, they have higher standards than we do!" like that's a good thing. People should not have to live in danger and fear for their lives just because they're not rich or "skilled".

I have inheritance coming in or I'd have legitimately already killed myself and my wife.

NO. You don't get to make that decision for her. I always tell people to live because there's always a chance, however small, that things will improve and also depressed brains lie and it's best not to let them win.

But suicide is a personal choice. You don't get to make that choice for anyone else. That's murder.

I suppose I should have phrased it better. Me and my wife are both of the same mind on this: find a way to get out or die. It would only be murder in that she's much more disabled than I am, including having difficulty holding things. So I guess more assisted suicide?
