I'm not asexual, and kind of relate. I don't like it when people assume I'm fine with hearing about sexual stuff from them, or make their sexual content really hard to avoid. To be clear, I also don't think there's anything wrong with horny fandom content and sometimes do appreciate it! I'm just not always comfortable with it.

I try to ask whether the people I'm talking to are down to talk about sexual content if I'm bringing it up, unless I know them really well, because the amount of times someone has assumed I'll definitely be fine with hearing something really explicit I didn't actually want to hear is... too many.

+1 Same here. I'm not ace or repulsed or prude or whatever, I'd just like the explicit stuff to be an opt-in option rather than assumed.
