Look, I agree that everyone has their good and their bad sides, but by all accounts the work environment on Ellen's show went really far beyond that and I worry that writing it off as just Ellen "having a bad side" is too easy and lets her off the hook.

I'm not saying we should burn her at the stake either, but I think we should take the prevalence of shitty, abusive workplace cultures seriously, especially in America where these problems are pervasive. It's not just about Ellen not being nice. She really did something wrong by allowing this workplace culture to flourish.

I'm not sure Ellen was fully to blame for the workplace environment. I think it was more her top people in charge.

She was those peoples' boss and it was - at least to some degree - her responsibility to ensure that the organization she headed up wasn't abusive. It's her failure to let them do that shit.
