I wrote a whole new giant AU fic, keeping the characterisitics and the looks. It was only halfway through that I realised people might mistake the characters fir Kirk and Spock, lol. That's not who they were based on at all. I love the characters just as much in their AU setting as I loved them in the original - though they did take on slightly different personalities of their own.

In short: go for it, OP.
