What Was The Most Romantic Scene For You In Media?

Be it from a movie, book, game, or whatever, what scene struck you personally as the most romantic? 'Romance' is of course purely subjective - it isn't necessarily the same for everyone and that's totally cool~

The 'Strangers Like Me' scene in Disney's Tarzan. The way Tarzan looks at Jane at 2:35... goddamn.

Personally, I love big gestures, people doing things for each other out of love. Sacrifice is just a theme I love in general, so romantic sacrifice is something I love as well. For canon romance, there is Amy and Rory and Rory protecting her for 2000 years and Amy giving him up because she knew he wanted kids and believed she couldn't have any more.

For non-canon, I have to go with my OTP, Melkor/Sauron. I know I'm the only one who ships them. And I'm well aware that it wasn't intended by Tolkien to be romantic. But to me, Melkor surrendering to Manwe and co at the end of the War of Wrath and allowing Sauron to escape, given that Melkor was the only Valar who knew fear and that he had to know that this time he was not going to be allowed to escape, was some kind of gesture. So personally as someone who does interpret them as being in love, I do read it as a romantic gesture, him deciding to give Sauron time to escape when he knew there was no chance of victory. And then later in Numenor, when Sauron creates a religion involving worshipping Melkor because all those millennia later Melkor is still in his mind and heart and to me his actions in Numenor were a romantic gesture, a love note to Melkor.

I don't know about most romantic but Antonia/Farmer Bas comes to mind. She doesn't want a husband, so instead of visiting each other's homes, they have shared family meals in the yard, and a love shack on the property line.

Kae Tempest's Firesmoke comes to mind, as does Etheridge You Can Sleep While I Drive.

I sometimes read Howl that way, "ah carl, while you are not safe, I am not safe, and now you're stuck in the total animal soup of time"

And "I'm with you in Rockland in my dreams you walk dripping from a sea-journey on the highway across America in tears to the door of my cottage in the Western night"

Kol is awake and Davina has fallen asleep after they've had sex for the first time and he watches her sleep and strokes her skin and kisses her.

Little snippet of it here:

I don't see a lot of sensual and affectionate gestures by men in my media and I love it. Usually it's only included as foreplay or for the benefit of the woman. He just looks happy to be with her.

The gate scene in RED between Ivan and Victoria. Nothing like getting ready to make your last stand when your old lover appears like magic and bridal carries you away from it.

Spoilers if you haven't seen it - The Expanse.....

When Miller find Julie Mao and helps her to understand what's happening, and to make it so Eros went somewhere else.....
It was 'romantic' in the regular sense, but it makes me bawl every time, and it's a wonderful, incredible scene.

The lowkey, casual way that Yuusuke says that, when he gets back, they'll get married to Keiko. Something about the casual, incredibly deep way those two love each other just makes me swoon every time.

This chapter of Detective Comics (DC) about Ralph and Sue Dibny is the cutest most adorable thing I've ever read. I love it so much.

Detective Comics #332 (October 1964), "The Elongated Man's Other-Worldly Wife"

Basically Sue arranges a mystery for Ralph (a detective) every year for his birthday and it's just the sweetest thing ever!

A Song of Ice and Fire spoilers... this one's long, sorry.

Jaime Lannister trusting Brienne of Tarth with his secrets, and Brienne catching him in the bath when he faints.

Jaime going back to Harrenhal to rescue Brienne from the bear pit.

Jaime having a custom dress and custom armor made for Brienne, and entrusting a sword and his honor to her.

Jaime slowly replacing Renly as the object of Brienne's affections in Brienne's dreams.

Brienne paying back the Bloody Mummers by deliberately cutting off the hand of one of their guys (after they had cut off Jaime's hand earlier). It was a 3 vs 1 battle, damn impressive. Look, the topic DOES say "subjective," okay? :P

Jaime punching Red Ronnet in the mouth using his golden hand because he won't stop insulting Brienne (and she isn't there to defend herself).

Brienne calling out for Jaime during her fever dreams after the horrifying encounter with Biter.

Jaime blurting out "innocence" when asked what he likes most in a woman (the book characters are a few years younger than their show counterparts, but this also one of the subtler signs that he's done with Cersei).

Anytime Jaime makes a mental note of Brienne's eyes.

I'm sure I forgot a couple but oh well.

(So yeah, I wasn't very happy about D&D's "checklist" ending. Even if the show was different, they "kind of forgot" what made that pairing special in the first place.)

One of my favorites is from the streaming show “One Mississippi”: protagonist Tig has a burgeoning crush on co-worker Kate, and when Kate takes her hand at a party to lead her towards a table, there’s a lovely little daydream sequence where it becomes the two of them holding hands through multiple adventurous backdrops - https://youtu.be/4lh217eQA50

The climax of Strictly Ballroom. The way they move, the eye contact, the emotion - I would recommend the movie just for that scene, if nothing else.

Even after everything Wei Wuxian has done, that scene where Lan Zhan tries to stop him falling at Nightless City. Also when we learn that LZ has been wandering the world looking for him for 16 years.
