The look inside feature should be everybody's favorite thing about book amazon.

I'm not sure what is worse, reading books that are clearly filed off fanfic, things that have been written far too fast and lack structure/development but have decent writing technique, or the "this is my first book and I published it far too early." The last often lacks any technique at all.

whenever I find something good that is indie, I cry happy tears. I have given up on 'to market' writers entirely. (If they publish every month or so it's a red flag.) And I'm very wary about reading books by people "I know." Mostly b/c they then want to know what I think and I think "you needed a dev editor, badly." I mostly get off freebie sales (make a wishlist, wait) from books I find on twitter. I honestly thought I'd have to get KU by now, but nooo.

It's gotten to the point where if I want something FUN, I know I'll like, I will still stick with fanfic. Even if the concept/cover art/blurb of a book is REALLY good. It means NOTHING about the inside. Nothing.

Oh, biggest red flag of a book that's most likely published too early... a PROLOGUE.
