Pokemon is ultimately a game of RNG more than anything else, and shinies are no exception; but there are ways to alter the odds slightly more in your favour. Have you tried the various methods for this - SOS hunting, Masuda Methods, etc? Sorry if that sounds obvious, but there's always a chance it's new information for somebody.

I've also been playing Pokemon since the earliest games and have never seen a wild shiny (or if I did as a child I didn't notice). C'est la vie...

Listen.

I've only found a shiny Furret.

Not a Sentret, so I can have "TECHNICALLY I have two since I evolved it". Nope. Just a Furret.

So I feel you.

the only wild shiny i've ever encountered was a dwebble in pokemon y.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-04 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
SA and i don't even like dwebble!!

I feel like i statistically should have came across a couple in my 29 years of life.

But if i have, I've never noticed them.

And i think thats part of the trouble. Unless you know every Pokemon's design, how can you spot a shiny?

*pours one out for all the ones that got away*

They have a gold sparkling animation play when the shiny is encountered and a special symbol appears in the status screen. But yeah, it's not overtly told to the player.

TRANSCRIPT

aside from the red gyarados at the lake of rage
the only shiny i've ever seen or caught
in 15 years of playing the game
(so many games)
was a fkn unown
i'm beginning to think i must have some kind of anti-shiny aura or something

CORRECTION: in 15 years of playing the games
[somehow I typoed that 's' out of existence, sorry :P]

This is the most valid thing I've ever heard.
