Snape and Sirius are arguably more compelling characters though?

You have a whole wealth of backstory and character flaws to explore with them.

Hagrid is an incredibly boring dimwit.

More people want to read and write stories that are more complex than 'Harry lives with Hagrid at Hogwarts and everything is lovely'.

Because he's not hawt. Snape is conflated largely with Alan Rickman, so people want to fuck him. Sirius was always thought of as hot.
