Courtney stopped making me feel old pretty quickly. I'm pushing 40, and I realized that I don't have the space or funds to buy any more dolls after her. So she's a good way to end things or at least go on a long break.

My memories of the 80s mostly consist of crawling around on the floor, but my gripe with AG and this doll is that a) enough with the blond white dolls already, you have made so so many and there are so many other kinds of people in the US it's beginning to look slightly pointed and b) why are you focusing so tightly on the 20th century, there are SO many interesting decades and events in the 18th and 19th that you could be exploring. (I'll give them this much wrt their newer 20th c. dolls, Melody is a great addition to the canon, but they still have only had one (1) asian doll, and she's a friend doll not a main story doll.)

The general consensus with Courtney seems to be that AG's playing it safe with a white doll who will likely sell well because they've been losing a ton of money for years. They did say they're committing to releasing new characters of color and apparently have big plans for next year, but we'll see. I really think they should've made Ivy the main character instead of the side character because it's pretty glaring for them not to have an Asian historical.

Honestly, I can't wait for a '90s or '00s one just to see what they'd do with it. I know people say that you can just buy the stuff they released in the '90s and make your own historical, but I just want to see how they would do it.

The dolls are fugly as hell, but you seriously think they *play* with them? Ahahahahaha. Yeah, and I use my decorative Syrian camel whip on my racing camel in suburbia.

... Play as in carefully dress them up and dust them often? I mean that's about my knowledge of how collectors play with their dolls?? I guess they'd keep them in their box for peak value though.
