Everyone is arguing that John and Kate shouldn't be coupled with the Duggers. True the Duggers need to knock it the hell off, I don't care if god is saying you can have a million babies, doesn't mean you should. John and Kate already had twins. They had their kids, why did they need more from their own dna? Because when the natural way didn't work they went to science and said "OH lol fix me" and science and most people know that when you use techniques like the ones involved there who end up with multiple births. They did it anyway. That's what's irresponsible. Not only that but they could of adopted more kids but no they decided it had to be their DNA in order to love them or something. Which is just sad.

People shouldn't have more babies then they have nipples, it's like a damn animal knows their baby is not going to get fed or taken care of well enough if it doesn't have a nipple. Just BAH this is why we have over population problems.

That's a great idea in theory, but adoption isn't an option for a lot of people because of financial issues. I probably won't be able to afford it, but I definitely want more than two kids. Maybe I'm selfish, but that's just not a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

If you can't afford adoption then you shouldn't be having babies either because they cost money as well!

Adoption is actually much more expensive than giving birth. The fees can range upwards of 4,000 to 30,000 dollars.

Of course then you have to factor in the cost of a kid in general. It may be more money but really wouldn't you feel better about giving some kid who doesn't have a family a home rather then just popping out a billion babies. Make money first then worry about babies if that's the way you feel about it. Cause either way your depriving someone of something.

IVF isn't exactly cheap either. A typical cycle is something like $10,000 USD, isn't it? And many women need more than one cycle. I can see the cost argument against adoption, but I don't think it's much of a valid argument when a family can clearly afford something that also isn't cheap. A better argument, and one that also tends to hit a lot of people, is if the family tries to adopt and is turned down for some reason.

IVF may well be covered by health insurance. Not so much with an adoption.

True, I'll give you that.

True, but adopted babies have all of the same financial needs as biological children (food, clothing, diapers, etc.) PLUS all the fees associated with adoption (the adoption fee itself, travel expenses, sometimes medical care for the birth mother). That's what pushes it over the edge of affordability.

If people want more than two children they should adopt.

As a planned third child, might I just say fuck you, you judgmental prick. Every family is different, and to say, "This is how families should be," is ignorant and obnoxious.

Not that I'm saying that either of the two families in the secret are something to aspire to; Lord knows how I shudder at the very thought of the Duggars. But that's not just because of their decision on how they should have children, but also how they'll raise them.

But giving a blanket statement that all big (genetically related) families are irresponsible or bad is just plain false. There are plenty of larger families out there where the family is perfectly healthy both physically and mentally. And the parents have no desire to exploit their situation on TLC.

Please, do not tell me how I should build my family. I am perfectly capable of making that decision on my own. And so were my parents. BTW, here's the kicker: I'm child-free, and I still think that what my parents did was okay.

True, it's not the best decision to have that many children. But it's still their decision. -shrugs- It's hardly reasonable to call for ostracizing the family. The kids, for one, did nothing wrong.

Just BAH this is why we have over population problems.

It's not the same as with animals, though. Human children can be breastfed.

We're all just animals anyway...but we really don't need to get into that argument either I guess.

This is why bottle feeding exists.
