148. Yeah, I liked Bela, and Cassie, as well as the chick from Provenance (Sarah? it was in S1) and a few of the other one-episode girls, but I've come to accept that the writers will never keep a strong female around for long. Don't ask me why, but it really annoys me.

It's known to happen. Seriously, are we watching the same show? S3 sucked because of the writers strike and Supernatural never fully recovered from it. Now the shenanigans they're pulling with Angels and Demons and God and whatthefuckever are seriously fucking up S4. So yes. It is the writers fault because they are the ones who come up with the stories. There's only so much the actors (Jared, Jensen, Jim, Misha, Genevieve, etc) can do with crap scripts. It'd be like trying to pick up shit from its good side.

How do you explain everyone else handling it? It may not be the best writing, but she's the only one dropping the ball so consistently. Seriously, she just sucks. I love Ruby in spite of her, not because of her, and I even STILL like Ruby. She's just a terrible actress.

Jensen's been sucking hard lately too. I'm not feeling anything remotely for Dean and his whatthefuckever plight or whatnot. I could have cared less that he just got pulled from the bowls of hell and was made to string people up to save himself. Boo. Fucking. Hoo. Since we've actually seen some good acting from Jensen and he seriously is trying to sell me the shit the writers tossed at him, I'm going to have to blame the writers for S4 going down the toilet. It's a train wreck!!

However, I will agree she's a terrible actress. I thought Katie Cassidy was bad. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have tempted the gods because they dug this chick up from the CW gutters (perhaps a 90210 reject?). My point is, Genevieve hasn't been given any good material to work with so... Wait. Never mind. She's just double fucked because she got a crappy character and she can't act for shit. Still, the writers are 60%, the CW is 25%, and Genevieve is 15% to blame for Ruby not working out.

Has someone seriously used the argument that you're a misgynist with you and not backed down when you explained how much you love Ruby, Bela, Ellen, Mary, Lilith, etc?

The reason I ask is because, barring a few crazies, that argument -- which I'm not shy to bring out myself -- usually only comes up if someone declares they dislike ALL the female characters on a show. Or virtually all, with one token female character who's "okay."

Yep, they have, because they told me flat out to my face that I was lying and just saying that so I wouldn't look like a misgynist. IDEK.

Okay, see, that person? Batshit. My side, which argues that fandom (as a whole) is misogynistic/behaves in a misogynistic manner, wants to smack people like that at least as much as you do. Give me the link, even, and I'll do a reaming.

But that poster was definitely one of the "few crazies" I mentioned and, honestly, I don't think that was what the secret was about. I think it was about not being allowed to say "I think all the women on X are badly written/acted" without getting called on it. That's what I see much more often and, given I sometimes seek out/get linked to these sort of debates in the hopes of educating someone (if only bystanders), I see a lot.
