As a Star Wars fan (and Kylux shipper), I have always wondered about Palpatine and if anyone liked him or shipped him with Anakin or whomever, and in the fandom it's always a kind of "lol we don't speak about that/hahaha crack!fic" kind of thing, but anyway, good for you, nonny!

My best friend loves Palpatine unironically because he love the political backdrop of the prequels and powerful mastermind - like villains and has a guilty pleasure thing going on for Anakin/Palpatine. Sadly he doesn't write Fic AFAIK though): but if one person is interested, there have to be more!

Ayrt - totally! The appeal is there, probably peeps don't indulge loudly in it because Palpatine is older and not hot, but I like these dynamics and I could see it.

that sounds like one of my good fandom friends, except I don't think he ships Anakin/Palps. He's definitely a monarchy/fancy things stan though, and lost his miiind when it was revealed that P. would be back for TROS.

(he used to be a hardcore Empire fan back before the Disney era, but toned that down/way back when he realized that a lot of people couldn't tell it was a joke and were legit into the fascist parts and thought he was too.)

I'm pretty sure people did during the prequel era, but I saw more of Anakin/Kenobi and combinations of Maul, Kenobi, and Qui-Gon Jinn back then.

There's also been more Padme/Palpatine content around these last few years.

I did back in the day. I think I did read a smutty fic or two once. But mostly it was about the dynamic of overlord villain seducing underling villain.

Honestly, I'm just super into villain shipping and will gravitate towards it whenever I get into a fandom. Then I'll either move away from the ship, which in this case I did, or stick around and make it a permanent ship, like I did with Kylux or my main Tolkien OTP.

I'm not even a Reylo shipper, but your icon is beautiful and it's making me miss the LJ days when icons were A Thing. (Not that I don't already miss the LJ days on a routine basis anyway, but you know...icons <3 <3 <3.)

Thank you, anon! I, too, miss the LJ icon era. I have a file folder of various icons I've saved over the years (and will never entirely use in my lifetime) because they're such beautiful little works of art.
