I sorta felt like this when Vic Mignogna finally got in trouble for all the shit he did. I used to be a big fan of his when DNAngel was dubbed and really liked him in FMA, but my friends who met him said he was kinda creepy, so I gradually stopped being a fan of his. Then all the fallout happened and I was just, "Huh, took 'em long enough".

I never watched RT or any stuff they've done, but this has been all over reddit. What did people think of him before this? Was he like a Mr Rogers type of dude?

Not Mr Rogers by any means, but yeah, generally considered a good dude. Talked about his wife and kids a lot, joined in the charity events, good sense of humor, all of that. People are trying to look at some of his videos with hindsight and see problems, but really, there was NO outward indication that this was going on, especially for as long as it was.

It's been years since I've watched any of their stuff, I moved on from AH after Ray left and they started pumping out more and more content.

I couldn't keep up with the new schedule after Ray left and more people were added. At the time i was gutted at having to drop watching their vids but it was impossible for me to scroll through the YouTube page without getting overwhelmed.

Turns out that it was a blessing all along. I would have been utterly devastated at this news if i was still an active member of the fandom. I'm so sorry guys. This fucking sucks. The betrayal is slight for me. I can't even begin to imagine how people who bought his merch are feeling right now.

I remember first hearing about the Adam thing and rolling my eyes because i suppose i always assumed that he was a bit of a prick? I didn't watch much FH and what i saw didn't endear me to him. I also know little to nothing about the personal lives of FH. So i was unbothered.

I don't think anyone could have guessed that the Ryan stuff was going to happen. It was Ryan surreal when the subreddit started blowing up.
I followed AH almost from the start. I remember when Ryan didn't even have a desk at the old office. He was on the couch. All of that history is now tainted. Most of my favorite moments either involved him or had him in the background.

He was more of a joke character and the last time we saw him was... in Rubys' dads kitchen i think? I can't imagine him ever showing up again unless it's a cameo.

I've never been a fan of Roosterteeth. But I have a friend and her brother in particular who, at one point, were huge fans. Even though I had no idea who they were, I met a couple of members at a comicon just cos I was there with my friend who was a fan. One, in particular, filmed us for one of their shows (they were filming a lot of people saying various things) and my friend's brother saw and was envious.
Mainly, I remember all of the comments on youtube about how "non attractive" all of us on the video were (ie I'm Australian so it was Americans bragging about how much more attractive Americans are. Yawn) It actively made me despise Roosterteeth fans and am not the least surprised members of the Roosterteeth team turned out to be dodgy.

It can't be stated enough that no-one suspected a thing. Not fans and not his colleagues.

This man was squeaky clean. He was beloved by everyone. I don't think I'd ever heard a single bad rumor about him in all the years I've been a AH fan. He was generally known for being a dedicated family man who had a wicked sense of humor and was highly respected by his workmates.

Achievement Hunter was/is a phenomenon. Ryan was a main member. I think that a lot of people viewed the AH guys in a comedic sort of way and didn't realise the sort of power they could wield over fans. Which makes this entire revelation that much worse. The persona that was cultivated by the fandom over the years acted as a sort of shield for him to operate.

I wonder, if events hadn't transpired to break this bastards image enough that his victims could be believed... would anyone have had the courage to tell their story?

To anyone who is still reeling from all this. Caiti's insta live really made it all click for me.

I've read all the victim statements, I've read all the RT statements, I'vebeen doom-scrolling on the subreddit.
I still somehow felt like it hadn't sunk in yet.

I think it's because the statements made by AH are so incredibly vague and it seems like they are avoiding saying the guys name like he's some sort of dark spirit.

Caiti just flat out talks about it. She stares down the predator in the room and just fucking talks about it without being cryptic.

She does it in a way that is mindful, kind and supportive towards his victims which is something that a lot of the RT statements have failed to do imo. I understand that they are crushed by this but there is too much talk about their sad feelings and their need to move on from this.
