seconded.

also, not every author who started in fanfiction shaved off the serial numbers to become traditionally published. i know that accusation got levelled at naomi novik because she was a big master & commander fan writer and of course, the temeraire books come out and they're also set during the napoleonic wars, albeit with dragons.
