lmfao holy shit that's the rudest ask

it's one thing to think someone may be charging above their pay grade. that's a real thing, it happens. someone brand new who can't draw hands is charging more per sketch than someone offering full resolution colored full figure (okay a bit of hyperbole don't focus on the specifics), it's not every time but it does happen. that said, you don't tell them "aren't you charging more than you deserve?" you say you wish you could afford it, period. let the commissions or lack thereof speak for the actual reality of whether the person is asking the right price.

I say this as a cosplay commissioner who gets steady work but not too much. there are commissioners who can charge thousands and are worth it, and their real fans react with "someday! I'll save up! it's worth it!" and then there's the overzealous newbs who charge high, fail to provide the product worth the price, who then get blacklisted as "scammers" even if their intention was earnest, just misinformed. seen it all. artists are no different. if you think a newb is overcharging, don't fuckin call them out, just give it a moment and it'll bite them in the ass; and if it doesn't? it's not your job to be the commission police. if people will pay high prices for substandard product, that's on them, not the commissioner.
