I create a protagonist who starts every day by crushing a puppy with his bare hands and drinking its blood. I also tell everyone he is a super likable hero of the story. Am I right? Is everyone wrong if they find him distasteful? Each person gets to decide for themselves what a story means. If the vast majority see something different than you intend as the creator, you might need to rethink your approach.

Also, I say this as a person who has spent the better part of the last 15 years making art.
