Creatives, especially those working for big media, are contracted to do the same kinds of public relations spin as the marketing wonks who handle them. So I'm skeptical that we should take what they say at face value any more than the spokesdude who promises that a drug or bank account will change your life.

I have the "caterer" rule, which is that if an idea didn't require a purchase order for food service on set, it doesn't really count. Because actually doing things like having diverse casts costs money and time as opposed to just saying that you thought about doing it after the fact.
