Considering that JK Rowling had to tell the movie director of the 1st film that Dean is actually black rather than writing that description in the book, this isn't really that farfetched.

Also I love how everyone has collectively for forgotten that Lavender Brown had changed race in the movie adaption between the early films and Half Blood Prince.
