Re: 119 - that's not a manip, believe it or not ;-) That is a pic from the first Chicago Creation Con in Nov. 07 when they got those special coins from the marine (which unfortunately turned out to be fake, as was the marine, but that's a whole other story; not a good one because the guy is a con man and douche for doing that...grrr). Anyway, they are looking at one of the coins and that is how they were standing. I was at the con.
Also, I agree, adorable secret and one I wholeheartedly agree with ;-)

They actually wound up getting presented with real coins from some real Marines, thanks to fandom_rocks. Jim Beaver (an ex-Marine, Vietnam veteran) presented them with their coins at the end of filming season 3, I believe.

Yes, thank goodness ;-) I was at that Chicago Con and I felt so violated after the scam was revealed; it sounds weird, but it felt like a violation of our emotions. We were standing and clapping and so moved....argh, just thinking about it makes me want to string the guy up by his...err..balls ;-)

I was there too! \o/ YAY US! I mean... I could see the tears welling up in Jared's eyes. *wibble* I was SO BEYOND UPSET when it turned out to be a scam. Most people I know were like "Oh, that sucks." but I have a history with the armed forces, and most people don't realize how special something like that presentation should be/is.

Oh yes, the tears welling up....sniff...I felt SO angry when I heard it was all fake....grrr.
I just hoped at the time that they wouldn't beg off cons because of it. Thank goodness they kept going to them. I was in LA this past March to see them again and I'm going to LA again in March ;-)
But I am glad that Creation stopped allowing presentations of any kind during the Q&As. Not only do they take up time that we would rather spend listening to the boys, but there is the danger of something like this happening again.

Oh I heard they weren't allowing presentations anymore! I was wondering why, but that TOTALLY makes sense. I wouldn't want everyone to see my business anyways, I refuse to even ask a question. haha I want to know weird shit anyways.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to the LA on in March. NJ might be cheaper, even though I live in AZ haha.

Cretin don't allow presentations, but people still do it. The programme for the 2007 SG1/SGA Vancouver convention stated 'no gift-giving on stage' but I recall a lady giving Torri Higginson a necklace she'd made herself.

Well, I suppose there is a difference between someone just giving a celebrity a gift during their time asking a question (but I still don't think they should allow it) and some huge presentation that a fan group did on behalf of charity. In those instances, the people get up on stage and make the presentation and the whole thing takes more than a few minutes, that's for sure ;-)
I do know that at all the Creation Cons I have been to, they even ask the people in line to ask questions at the Q&As NOT to ask for hugs because then the celebrity feels obliged to do it for everyone who asks (and if one person gets it, more people WILL ask because they would rather suffer the wrath of the rest of the crowd just to get their hug) ;-)
I suppose it's hard to enforce the rule once someone in line to ask a question blurts out that they have a nifty gift - I mean, the Creation folks can't very well wrestle the fan back to her seat, lol. But I do wish fans would respect the rules and not try to get their special time at the expense of other fans.
