160. I sorta like Nate with Serena when he's not, like, destroying someone's friendship in the meantime. Because early episodes aside, he's just a nice, classy stoner who wants to be good with good people.

He also can throw judgmental hissy-fits because he often doesn't get this, but he's still not NEARLY as bad as Dan.

nate and serena are really cute together, but idk - i like their friendly banter. (then again their flashback sex scene is pretty hot and up there with chuck and blair's limo rendezvous.)

see that's what i love about nate! he's genuinely sweet and adorable aside from his (very) occasional fuckup and that thing with duchess, and i just want him to get someone that's as nice as him. and vanessa proved herself to be a secretive bitch, jenny's always doing stupid things and never learning from her mistakes (and she pouts hideously), and while i do like serena, idk. she acted kind of obnoxious throughout this season when dan was actually improving.

I would totally write a paper on the way Nate is objectified in Gossip Girl as a prize, and the gender-bender this implies and how masculinity is such a huge part of Nate's character arc (and he arcs! Just very quietly) but then I have to lie down.

Though I actually like Nate/Jenny a bit; but Jenny is fifteen and is almost like Blair with her frantic energy and ideas that if This Scheme Does Not Go Through, My Life Is Ruined Before Junior Year. So Nate might be able to calm her down, but Jenny still needs a lot of work to do.

I feel that's a problem with many of the characters, not just Jenny. Not learning from their mistakes. And I am sorta angry at Serena's random chewing out of Chuck at his FATHER'S FUNERAL. Normally she's not that... dumb.

fksdjhfs if you ever do write one, i totally want to read it. it really is amazing the way that nate symbolizes a prize, and then how even though he gets centric episodes the same way that the other characters do, we still never get as much time to empathize with him. (fff but the writers can suck it because he's still my favorite.)

yeah, jenny does have a lot of the same hyperactive panicky traits that blair has, but to me blair has grown considerably through hers, whereas jenny hasn't. blair still gets her "OH MY GOD MY LIFE IS RUINED" scenes but she turns around and matures up in almost the same breath these days. since jenny's fifteen i guess i can't expect that from her anytime soon - so that's part of the reason i think jenny and nate shouldn't be together. maybe when jenny grows up a little - because while nate's got a funny kind of innocence about him, it doesn't change the fact that jenny's too immature for him.

OHGOD they do. i think that's part of what makes the show, of course - all their immense fuckups - but i was really hoping serena was going to quit with the stupid mistakes after her whole "OH I'LL JUST BE QUEEN BEE AGAIN" spiel near the beginning of season 2. hopefully getting rid of aaron will help her be a little less stupid, idk. and chuck was doing really well - UNTIL HE DITCHED BLAIR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. i know that chuck and blair's relationship is all shaky and they're writing it perfectly - but it could've been entirely in character without having chuck leave blair after that scene.

i'm really glad about how they've been doing dan though - after that whole thing with chuck's dad and the article, i think he's gotten a lot better about checking the way he acts. except when he listens to jenny and goes and tries to ~get serena back~ of course.
