And if they are both virgins before the marriage and then marry and have sex the first time and are for the first time able to *really* tell whats turning them on (while having sex with other people besides themselves) and then notice how different they are in what they like...? Bad luck?

Depends -- if they were religious enough to wait, it may be too late to bail out, they either work through it or compromise. But not knowing is DIFFERENT than keeping some kink secret and bringing it out well after the commitment.

Working through and comprimising sounds very optimistic.
And yeah, you are right, a known kink should be spoken about before.

I still don't get people who wait until marriage.

Yeah--lots of people have had happy marriages without having sex first (my parents for example), but talking about things before getting married, communicating during the marriage, and being willing to work with the other person as much as possible are very important. Even if you to know what they like sexually before you get married, you'll still have to compromise on other things, and people's taste can change with time. But if you're NOT having sex before you commit to them for life? Need for communication: IMPERATIVE.

Yeah, hubby and I waited until we got married ( we've been married 5 years now). He'd had sex before, I hadn't. I knew going in he liked things not as vanilla. lol Bordering on TMI, but I was a black chick into Goth and Punk (well... still am lol) and I figured he wasn't into vanilla love so to say. Though I'm a Christian, I think people should talk about that crap before you get married AT LEAST or do the nasty to see if it's worth it.
Well, I've never been one to go down the beaten path, but that's my screwed up view on things.
