ah geez, here it comes. No, I'm not joking. Call me whatever unflattering thing you're going to but apparently I'm in all the wrong crowds. I see little oneshots on LJ coms sometimes, but most of them end up on ff.net anyhow.

Name your fandom and I might be able to find you some archives. They tend to be a bit more discriminating than AFF.net. But yeah, if you have a tiny fandom ff.net (and maybe mm and aff.net) might be all that there is. Not every fandom has just tons of fic.

Start with newbieguide which will include listings for all fic-posting communities in a large number of fandoms; crack_van is a recs community which leads you to any number of personal and fandom archives.

Thanks for the link to newbieguide. I think more users should know about it-- and more fandoms need to have their overviews written! I'm going to try my hand at one of those (hopefully)!
