I feel like characters aren't as well written or diverse personality wise these days. I suspect that's partly because of a decrease in our real life exposure to other humans in all their messy, faceted, and flawed glory. Less fodder for writers' imaginations.

We have more main female characters than ever. I'm a bit sad that I grew up in the 90s where the boys got to do all the fun stuff in Media.
