Funkos are really not for me (sorry, I've tried) but someone here did open my eyes to the fact it's often the only way to get a figure of your fave if it's something a little more obscure. And I'm all for people having *something* of their favourites even if it's something I don't personally like.

I did kinda resent how they took over an entire aisle of my very small comic book store though. It meant there was a noticeable down turn in any other merch, even other cheap merch. But since that shop moved to a bigger unit down the road, the Funkos get their own section and it hasn't taken anything else away. Everyone's happy.

I think it's okay to not like them. It's the disparaging of them as "they shouldn't exist period" where I go, "Do you think that or do you just hate that figure-collecting is no longer exclusive?"

I definitely am not the type to think they shouldn't exist. I don't get them but I just don't buy them for my collection - problem solved for me.

And anyone who is disparaging for quality issues in particular is having a laugh. I've bought some pretty shocking figures in the cheaper price range in terms of quality or resemblance to the character. At least the Funko look, simple as it is, usually gets the overall aesthetic of the costume correct.

Even luxury figures can look hilariously wrong sometimes. Maybe not bad with a cursory glance but I've definitely seen people complain that their $300+ figure doesn't look enough like the actor after more scrutiny.
