Well, we are having ice storms. Getting to work was awful. When I got out, there was 1/2 inch of ice on my windshield. -_-

Wrote an appeal brief this morning. Took me 4.5 hours, but I'm really proud of it. Possibly the best one I've written. Still really hard to win cases these days, but I put my all into this and did what I could.

After that, went to pick up my paycheck. Was going to run a few errands as well, but while driving realized I was having migraine aura so drove home after depositing check instead. Pain hit on the drive home, so it was good I changed plans.

Took some meds that I hope caught it in time, and now am in my bed with the light off and an ice pack on my head. Going to sleep as soon as pain dies down enough so I can. My cat has joined me on my bed. She seems to sense I'm not feeling great because she's being a very sweet girl and purring at my feet.

I got my new computer! \o/ I went from a 14" laptop to two 27" monitors and it's BONKERS. I'm so pleased!

Mostly played Crown Tundra all day - Dynamax Adventures have swallowed my soul, lol. But I did find time to basically finish a new small fanfic! Only thing i'm struggling with now is the title.

Downloading a massive fanfiction.net archive from 2016 to find a fic that was last updated in 2015 and deleted a few days ago. Being really frustrated about life in general.

My very belated birthday gifts to myself (books) from Amazon came today and I wiped them down with Clorox wipes (you know, just in case).

Today was the first day of my new workout routine: 4 days of lifting interspersed with 2 of cardio. Since my cardio days are now cut back to only 2 days a week I increased the time from 35 minutes to an hour, and today I went for an hour run. I also weighed myself this morning and I've lost 15 pounds since September 1st. I changed my sheets and put heavier blankets on the bed, and now I'm doing laundry. Dinner is chicken and sautéed veggies. Probably going to watch NFL tonight, although I don't especially like either team (Bears/Rams).

Went to Flexjobs to try and find a job that I can do... still nada. Guilt assuaged I guess.

So far, I've written 2500 more words for the Harvest Festival portion of the Horse MMO game I'm deving with my writing bestie/editor. Holiday story/visuals are officially delegated to me while she does the main story. It makes me happy when I go "I have a thought to do this." and she goes "I love it. DO IT." So, yeah, vampires and werewolves in the Harvest section of this game. with the pumpkin king and queen and Mari Lwyd and skeleton morris dancers just because. 10K words so far, week one down. Woot. (Three weeks left? I think. Then the Jack Frost stuff that leads to CHRISTMAS.)

Honestly, I hope this game gets off the ground at some point. (Bah, SSO needs competition fast.) I know though, the programmers are going to look at me and go "You are bonkers." Look, I JUST LOVE HOLIDAYS OKAY!

Procrastinating - I started an over-ambitious cake and I have to finish in the next few hours, but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I don't wanna.
Also I'd like to avoid listening to the news, because Everything Is Terrible, but my dad listens to the radio so there's no escape (my dad thinks headphones are for other people).

But I'm also cautiously happy, because my choir is dressing up for Halloween this evening so I'm looking forward to that, and I got on the scales yesterday and I've lost 18 kilos this year, so there are the good things in life and I really really have to try and hold onto them.

Peonies, lily of the valley, honeysuckle, mimosa, magnolias, roses, scarlet pimpernel, and henbit.

Hellebores. They're so tough and determined and such great winter flowers. Also like the black varieties.
Roses, especially old roses and the David Austins.
Tree paeonies. So ott.
Some of the more out-there Gondwanan flowers, like proteas, waratahs and leucospermums. Also quiet and well-behaved Gondwanans, like thomasias and serrurias.

Basically I just like flowers? Growing, though, not as cut flowers.

Sunflowers are my favorite and have been since I was a kid. My mom let me and my sister each have a little patch of the garden of the house we had when I was 3-8, and I put sunflowers in mine.

I also like red roses, the flowers known as Arizona Sun (I think the official name is gaillardia), lotus maculatus, birds of paradise, chrysanthemums, and marigolds.
