I mean, if by broader in scope you mean stop the story cold to lecture some other character on the intricacies of a dozen different sexualities and gender identities of minor OCs, when that hasn't anything to do with anything that's happened so far at all. I keep running into this and it's driving me batty---if it matters to the plot, MAKE it matter to the plot. Don't just toss it in as a lengthy aside for added color or what have you.
