You don't have to be super invested in a parasocial relationship to think, "Aww, no, that's sad" when a celebrity dies. You just need a modest amount of empathy. Not even a lot. Just a teensy bit.

I do think it's sad for the people who know them, or for the people who are affected by them. I think it's too bad if they died young/tragically/whatever. But it has zero effect on my life, and honestly, if you want me to care about the death of someone I've never met who had all the wealth and opportunity in the world, I'm going to go into a scrupulosity spiral of guilt and depression over the hundreds of people who died that day of poverty and preventable violence and become entirely overwhelmed and suicidal again.

So I save my empathy for the (sometimes exhausting) people I work to help every day, because that's more productive.

Don't be a judgy condescending asshole to people you know nothing about based on three sentences, jfc. Being a dick to an actual person is LESS empathetic than not caring about people who are in no way at all impacted by my lack of reaction.
