Truthfully, when there's a celeb who I'd be really upset if they died, it's probably because I love their work and I kind of take it for granted that they're going to do more in the future. Suddenly having that taken away in such a permanent, unexpected way is what makes me feel their death.

Sure that's selfish, but so what? I don't know them. The only real connection I have with them is through their work and my enjoyment of it. Of course that's what makes me feel the reality of their death.
