As a POC whose parents are immigrants, nah. This is the kind of offhand "microaggression" that should maybe be mentioned because people don't realize how they sound AKA assuming, like you're doing, that the people who are hearing you are all white Americans

I mean, with respect, I just disagree. I agree that it's factually incorrect for an American to say that "there should be more media that doesn't center around white people". But I think it's a pretty natural error to make to elide the fact that you're specifically speaking about American media if you're an American who mostly consumes American media. And I don't see at all how it assumes that 'the audience for your statement is all white Americans'.

orrrrr maybe comments like “I wish there was more media with x or without y” are solely about what the person saying them wants and aren’t about whoever may be seeing or reading them.............. it’s not that goddamn deep jfc
