Well, American media is extremely dominant, even in other countries. I didn't grow up in the States and even I find it hard not defaulting to Hollywood when I think "movies". So I have sympathy for people who did grow up there and don't have worldly taste.

Also I think wanting to see the *American* non-white experience portrayed isn't an itch that can be scratched by viewing foreign media.
