I enjoyed sporkings of, like, Twilight and the five billion bad knockoffs at the time, but fanfic sporkings always left a bad taste in my mouth. And I like fandom meta analysis, it's fun as long as you don't take it too seriously.

yeah, I read a sporking of 50 Shades (published form) which was hilarious, but in that case I feel like an author who publishes their work is different from a pure fan fic writer, because at least they're getting paid and they've chosen to make their work public. Plus a lot of the worse fics out there, of the type that would probably get sporked, are by younger writers, and I feel like sporkers are probably a bit older? So it would feel mean.

Yeah I'll happily rip a shitty book/show/movie/game I don't like apart, in the case of 3 of those I paid actual money to consume the content so I get to complain about it as much as I like.

Whereas I don't pay for shitty fic, if I don't like it I back-click and forget about it. I might make fun of it in my head but that's as far as I'll go, it'd be like ripping into someone's hobby-cross-stitching, it's just mean for no good reason.
