Oh gods, I'm having war flashbacks. There was a few years there where Blaise Zabini was a really popular "this is a canon character so you can't say she's a mary sue or self insert" character, and I was just so fucking confused that everyone thought Blaise was a girl?
And oh man, all the Americans who thought that you could just walk into town and buy a gun in the UK...

Gosh i remember when everyone thought that Blaise Zambini was an italian boy. I mean to be fair, fic writers gave him better characterization than Rowling ever did but wow. What a time we lived through.

I love the fanon that his mum was a black widow type, with a string of tragically brief marriages. I've seen that in so many places, I have no idea where it came from.

DA - it's mentioned in book 6, actually; Blaise is in the Slug Club because he has "a famously beautiful witch for a mother" who "had been married seven times, each of her husbands dying mysteriously and leaving her mounds of gold."

I'm sure i remember it making the rounds in fanlore well before it was shown in the books.

Anyone else?

this different, different anon also recalls it from fic before book six, but I'm willing to admit I may be misremembering

NA
Maybe you're misremembering when Half-Blood Prince came out - it's been 15 years.
