Agreed. Some of the Hetalia wank reminds me a lot of Megatokyo and the other webcomics wank--and that's what it is, a webcomic. People bashed on MT because of the crappy art, the skeevy pedo premise, and the creator's temper tantrums, and I don't think Hetalia looks that much better. So what'd this guy do to have his comic made into a show that the other artists aren't?

For one, think of the merchandising you can get out of Hetalia. Show business is, surprisingly, still a business, and this is Japan.

Personally, my issue with Megatokyo is that Fred can't put out three uninked, uncolored pages a week, when doing so is his full time job. That's just plain lazy, and I find it borderline offensive that he makes a pretty good living off of it.

I thought it was mostly weaboo jealousy. But yeah Fred's art wasn't so hot but it was meh.

Well, all Hidekaz needed is a devoted Japanese fanbase and internet buzz and badda-bing-badda-boom, an anime is born.
