106: Alright, yes, some members of the fandom can get butthurt too easily, but that's far from all of us. All of the generalizing is what annoys me. And WTF @ "all" Western countries having blond hair and blue eyes? That's not even true. Sure the Scandinavian countries do, but that's the stereotype of that area, and Hetalia is about mocking stereotypes. Take Austria for example. Or even the main freaking character. Or Spain. Etc. They're Western and not blondies.

118: Don't feel afraid. Just hold your head up high and be proud. Anyone that attacks someone as a person based on their FANDOM is just fucking stupid. And HUNGARY YES!!!

137: You are taking it way too seriously. Itlay has good qualities in-series, though they tend to play up the stupidity for laughs, yes. But come on, ALL of the countries represented in Hetalia get made fun of like crazy. I'm American. America is obsessed with being a hero and eating hamburgers. And is a total dick. But I don't feel insulted at all. But seriously. EVERY COUNTRY gets mocked. Look at Poland. Russia. They're all potentially offensive to people of their nationality.

No, I just think it's ridiculous to get offended over your country being made fun of in Hetalia when it's EVERY country. I kinda feel like they're saying that somehow their country is special and should be spared, but who gives a shit if everyone else's is mocked. Especially that particular secret.

Most of us understand the potential for offense here. We're not angry that people are offended, we're angry that they make +4 secrets every post with the SAME DAMN REASONS why we should all wag our fingers at Hetalia and its fans. So we reply to those, even though they've been done to death, and then someone brings out the Bingo cards.

I wish people didn't feel they had to defend their fandom, PERIOD. I know most of you people don't like any of the anime I like, and I could really give a shit.

So I guess we should just pat all secrets on the back and never disagree or defend anything. Even if they are blatantly wrong. Also, there is a difference between defending the fandom (themselves and their friends) and defending the source/canon. And yeah, if people started going on to me about how HP is evil and promotes satanism, I might defend it assuming that I didn't think the person was completely insane or a troll.

It's one thing to say 'this isn't my cup of tea' or 'I personally don't find this humor funny' and another to say 'OMG it's totally offensive and can't be seen any other way and anyone who likes it is a piece of shit' or 'A couple of people in your fandom like this messed up fandom shit, so absolutely everyone in this fandom, even if you know nothing about it, is a sick, horrible human being.'

I'm not a fan of Hetalia (not my cup of tea), but some of these hate secrets deserved to be slapped down.

I was totally with you all the way for the first two, you lost it for the third. Way to be insensitive. As a hint? If someone is insulted and offended by a stereotype that hits close to home for them (what can be seen as mockery of THEIR country and THEIR people), it's not like they're doing it for fun or on purpose.

You make a point that everyone gets equally mocked in that series and that they're still all portrayed as good, likeable people, too. But to belittle someone because they're saying that they find the series offensive for the portrayal of their country, while NOT insulting the fandom or anyone in it? Just adds to the reasons people have to roll their eyes at Hetalia fandom and write us off as smug, unsympathetic asses.

You're right, really, except for the fact that I wasn't trying to belittle the OP. I can see how what I said could be seen as that way, though. I probably could've been a bit more tactful, but all the Hetalia hate for reasons that just seem silly to me are really wearing on my nerves. Apologies.

Yeahhhh, no worries, 'cos I did that the other day. Had a ranty explosion about the ridiculousness of all the hate and people any reason to hate the very existance of the series and all its fans, then getting all bent out of shape at the fact that we don't like that and respond unfavorably. XD;

Ended up regretting it because it WAS out of line, but I'm still amused that the only major response I got was "OH YEAH, AND YOU PROVE THAT THE FANDOM IS FULL OF PEOPLE WHO CAN TAKE SOMEONE DISLIKING THEIR SERIES WELL." Which basically backed up my point in a few ways there. ;;
