106 - Agree, especially on the blond hair blue eyed part. I did not know blond hair was a stereotypical American trait until one of the fans said it was. Here I was thinking the US was supposed to be a melting pot. :(

110 - I mourned Sirius more than I have, and probably will, mourn any real person besides my mother. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

106. It's a stereotype in Japan, because surprise surprise the Japanese think differently and aren't the same culture as America. It's a stereotype, that doesn't make it 100% true.

If you're going to make a comic about the world, don't you think you should do a little reading. That shit wouldn't fly if it were a Westerner who was drawing it.

You'd be surprised by the amount of research that actually goes into the series, considering what it is. Maybe the looks are supposed to be part of the joke. Anyway, I'm inclined to think the author just drew up a bunch of characters at the start of the comic, not really expecting it to go anywhere at first. He's adding more characters now, including women and male characters who're not stereotypical bishounen.

It's based on national stereotypes, it's part of the humor. It's not something that is just being ignorantly done.

And don't you find it a little weird when Americans draw Japanese and Chinese (and all Asians, really) with squinted eyes and huge buck teeth? Or when all Australians in comics are drawn with cowboy hats and with the same accent as Crocodile Dundee?

Why is it only okay when someone non-American does this? Shouldn't it be cringe-inducing no matter what?

I feel a little nervous about liking it after seeing the massive amounts of wank about it on here :| I even saw someone say it's the "next Twilight" which really doesn't make me feel any better.
