This point? I don't think taste in television indicates any sort of intelligence one way or another. But the fact that those shows are aimed at and popular with women creates the perception that women are only interested in shallow pursuits like looks or drama-filled relationships.

It is really not all that transparent from your secret, by the way. And for that matter, dior_chic's response applies to your argument too. The kind of television deemed appealing to men doesn't paint a flattering picture of male taste and intelligence either. And there is no evidence at all that supposedly smart TV is only aimed toward men.

That's what I thought the secret was saying. I don't get why responses about shallow male TV are so missing the point. It seems like the kind of TV that's stereotyped as "smart" is usually seen as appealing to both sexes.

I think the only real point that can be made from this is that television producers believe that people of different genders generally like different kinds of stupid things. Why they think I can't enjoy my car chases in addition to my bitchy models, I have no idea.
